Disposition:
Adventurer/hero: Becoming dissatisfied with life with her family, Sapphire decided to make a name for herself, and travelled to the Eorzean mainland. The Adventurer’s Guild offered a kind of structure while she found her feet, taking on errands within the city-state of Ul’dah, to outside its territories, helping a merchant seeking to help other Ala Mhigan refugees, to aiding the Sultansworn in retrieving the Sultana’s crown. In doing that, she attracted the attention of various other actors- the leaders of the city, and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, eventually joining them to help protect the lands she’d come to care for. She enjoys travelling as part of that, her journeys taking her across all of Eorzea and now to the other continents and another Shard- and while it might be wearing, it’s also exciting to see a new horizon, to speak with people and learn of their stories.

As a note- Sapphire holds onto the thought that this is something she chose, to join alongside the Scions and fight for their cause, when Minfilia asked. Her actions may have earned her a moniker shared by other heroes before her, but that legacy is one she wishes to do her best to uphold. Recent events have added other promises- but they are all important to remember. Sometimes it feels as though she’s lying to herself- but when she thinks of leaving, she doesn’t think it for long. These are her friends and loved family- not by blood, but no less important to her for it. If it came to it, her family in the Scions are among the first people she wants to protect.

Loyal/family: Sapphire grew up with a close-knit family, with several siblings- some older and some younger, sharing both parents with one older sister. When she first agreed to join the Scions and Minfilia spoke to her of thinking of the Scions as a family, she was reluctant to- she already had a family, didn’t she? But spending time with them as they worked to help deal with the primals- those summoned and those not- lead her to bond with them, and to worry after them when the Empire invaded the Scions’ sanctuary and imprisoned them led her to think and accept them as family, and she would protect them with everything she has. When Widargelt, a monk of Ala Mhigo, he spoke to her as a sister of the monkhood she accepted that, deciding she would also seek to work towards the freedom of Ala Mhigo.

Envy/possessive: things she tries to keep very under wraps and… as not present as possible tbh. She doesn’t like people moving in on her people or things much- but in the case of people, she’s doing her best to try and hold onto that others are entirely allowed to make their own decisions. But also, just, she regards Alphinaud as her little brother- and while it is understandable that Alphinaud looks up to Estinien after their journey through the Churning Mists together, seeking peace, she finds it utterly frustrating to feel as though they’re competing for the same kind of love.

Under pressure:

Sapphire knows she’s not usually the cleverest person in the room; she’ll try to pass off words that dig at that particular spot, but it does bother her. If something is absolutely going over her head, she has a tendency to kind of tune out- it’s just not really getting processed. She did quite a bit of that when Erik was speaking, and not particularly engaging with her as a student.

Related to this, she’s developed something of a tendency to try and push down those things that really bother her- trying to ascertain the best way to tell someone she trusts what’s going on in her head. At an extreme, she has occasionally disassociated- which is definitely when everything has become too much for her to reasonably cope with.

One instance of that is the time when the Eorzean Alliance had been manoeuvred into taking the fight towards Ala Mhigo, Sapphire assumed that Widargelt would still be interested in aiding the Resistance- in trying to take back the homeland. She’d promised, after all. Discovering that he had decided it would be better to keep training those students who had joined him in rebuilding the monkhood hurt, as much as it was understandable, and she pulled away from that small part of her family, not wanting to let them know that this distressed her when they were trying to grow.

Condition upon arrival: Fairly good, all things considered- while she’s been through a lot, particularly during her time in Norvrandt, by the end of 5.3 matters feel reasonably resolved. Her friends and companions have also been recuperating,

Echo: Summed up as the power to transcend souls, the power of the Echo allows its bearer to see and experience the memories of others as they lived it, and to understand the languages of others as though she naturally spoke it herself.
